How To Change A Swimming Pool Light

Some swimming pool lights need to be changed. These days, due to LED technology, the frequency of changing a bulb is a lot less. However, it is still important to know how to remove the bulb incase you want to change the color of the lighting.

Check the circuit breaker

The first thing you will need to do is to make sure that the circuit breaker is not tripped. If the circuit breaker is tripped, turn off the light to the pool and try turning on the circuit breaker. Once the casing is out, pull it out of the water. From there, proceed to unscrew the other parts and change the bulb as you would normally. Next, go to the electrical box and briefly on the lights to check if the lights turn on.

Once you’ve done this, all you have to do is turn off the electrical box again and put back the bulb in the pool. Screw on the casing and turn on the electrical box again one last time.

Don’t forget to use reliable tools to make the task safer and faster. You should always change bulbs with a friend around for accountability.

When it comes to SPF levels, one should consider investing in heavy sunblock for long sun exposure. No one is really only out for 15 minutes at a time. Therefore, SPF 30 and above is highly recommended. Superior sunblock includes protection from UVA and UVB. Such bottles contain avobenzone (Parsol 1789), zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.

Reapply Like There’s No Tomorrow

Sunblock needs to be applied several times throughout the day. At the most, sunblock is only good for a couple of hours. If you’re wondering why you’re getting sunburned despite applying a heavy coat of sunblock in the morning, chances are you’re not applying it in the afternoon.

Waterproof? Not!

No sunblock is 100% waterproof. Even if you’re just lounging in the sun, your sweat will dilute the coat and eventually make the sunblock ineffective. Water resistant sunblock is only good for around 40 to 80 minutes. After this period, you’ll need to apply another coat.

We don’t recommend using a whole bottle for one coat. However, most people make the mistake of using a dab and expect it to work the entire day. You will need more than a dot of sunblock to cover your arms, face, back and legs.

Cloudy Days Also Requires Sunblock

For those who get sunburned easily, cloudy days can be problem. Because of this, one should consider using a lighter or weaker bottle of sunblock. Reapplication is still important, but you should only apply a thin to medium coat.

Sunblock sprays are the easiest to apply, compared to sticks or lotion. Some prefer a combination of all three to ensure an even coating. In the end, it all boils down to your personal preference.
